Beachside Character Home Transformed
Our brief for this project was to transform the old weatherboard house - the original family home, into a more substantial property without loosing the colonial character.
Given its closeness to the sea and wanting to capture the ocean views, we set to work.
Now a home of 370 m2 (including garage) with 38 m2 of outdoor covered areas and 30 m2 of outdoor decks, this is a property befitting its seaside address.
By recycling many of the materials from the old house including flooring, skirtings, architraves and feature windows, the owners get to enjoy the quality and warmth of building materials from yesteryear. They also went as far as salvaging interior doors from the Taumarunui hospital.
This attention to detail and clever use of old mixed with new, has created a home for this family to enjoy for many years to come.
